Tips on How to Take Care of Vintage Phonograph Records
Phonograph records are storage mediums used in the earlier years of sound recording. Also known as vinyl records, they are flat discs that have spiral grooves, which are read by a turntable device. This in turn plays the captured sounds out loud. Phonograph records have become a collector’s favourite, so if you have any records in your home, you might make use of their worth some day.
Naturally, they can only be valuable if they maintain their quality, so you should properly care for these items. You can keep them clean by wiping the dirt and grease with a damp cloth that is non abrasive to avoid scratching the surface of the discs. Make sure you frequently rinse the cloth if you are cleaning a lot of records. After taking off the dirt, you should wipe them with a soft dry towel.
To make sure that your phonograph records are well preserved, store them in a dry and clean area with moderate temperature and ample protection from direct sunlight. File the records vertically and prevent them from leaning towards each other.
